I was fortunate enough to have been seen by DrJameson S. Boswell in the Speare ER on Monday. He and the staff, especially Charlie, gave me excellent care. Visits to the ER are never pleasant but Charlie and Dr Boswell made my husband and I feel comfortable during their discovery, lab and image readings, and eventually excellent action plan. I followed their instructions and I am feeling much better. I have great respect for the Speare medical team. I am also grateful for this nearby community hospital where patient care is a top priority.

May 6 2025. I would like to thank Speare Memorial Hospital and the following staff. Jane/Sonographer, absolutely amazing! Her personality, knowledge, and care was A+++ Nita and Andrea unbelievable. Kind and caring A+++. Dr. Angelakis was phenomenal! Wow! She exceeded my expectations! Super knowledgeable, empathetic and professional. Speare is very fortunate to have her for Breast Cancer Awareness and biopsy procedures. Lastly, Dr Rocke. This was not my first appointment with her. I first met her for Breast Cancer at Littleton Regional Hospital 2023She left LRH ( huge loss ). After having another Mamogram and Ultrasound the Radiologist told me that I had a u201csuspiciousu201d mass could likely be another cancer and I should have a biopsy. I found Dr. Rocke at Speare! She is everything you would want in a Surgeon. Caring, empathetic, knowledgeable, she takes the time to explain and go over what to expect, she doesnu2019t rush! LRH was crazy to let her go! I absolutely love her! Do not hesitate if you are diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Choose Speare Memorial and Dr Rocke. I HIGHLY recommend! A 40 minute drive from Littleton. Do not go to LRH! Thank you so much! ud83dude4fu2764ufe0f

As a former cancer patient, I have had my fair share of hospital experiences. If not for Speare, I could say that all have been pleasant. Unfortunately, after a multitude of awful and even life-threatening visits, I find myself posting this review not only as a complaint and criticism but as a warning to prospective patients. In late June of 2022, I had gone into septic shock as a result of a bacterial infection. With a fever of 103, I was rushed to the emergency room, where, despite being completely empty, I had to wait 30 minutes for a room. I understand this issue with larger hospitals and normally would not mind waiting, but facing possible death did affect my patience. For half an hour, I was going into convulsions, sobbing hysterically, hallucinating, and dying (literally). After finally receiving IV fluids and doing a CAT scan that did not yield any results, I was sent to another hospital via ambulance. The other hospital's nurses were appalled at how my IV was set up.Anyway, this review is not simply based on one experience from two years ago. As I said, there have been countless occasions. I had gone in for a stomach bug in late September this year. I gave plenty of helpful information about my symptoms, timelines, and what I ate recently, but just got told to wait it out. Okay, fine. I could do that. I was then asked to provide a stool sample. No one enjoys that process, but if it can give me answers, I was glad to do it. However, not only were we met with rudeness and condescending receptionists at the hospital when returning it, but we got a call much, much later saying that they had lost it and needed another. At this point, my stomach bug was already gone. They took that long to tell us that they lost the sample. Why on earth would I provide another when I made a complete recovery in the time they took to inform us? They then had the AUDACITY to bill us $400 for said sample. Excuse me? I'm the one whose stool you lost. I actually had to take a lap around the house to contemplate how anyone could be so boldly ignorant after I saw that bill. This experience was actually the third or fourth time (I began to lose count, sorry) that my samples have been lost at Speare Memorial Hospital, which has never, ever happened with any other hospital. Because of my condition, I am required to get a bloodwork done every three months. I'm not sure why, but one time they lost it... okay fine, everyone makes mistakes right? And then they lost the other one I gave a few days later. Like, what was the game plan there? I ended up having to go three times for this one bloodwork.I can also describe some more bad experiences, which, while not as horrendous, where pretty much in character for Speare. A family member went in for a toe problem and the doctor had to Google her symptoms to come up with a (wrong) explanation. Hello? Did you cheat your way through med school? What happened there? On another visit, she was recommended birth control so as to prevent menstruating during military boot camp training (you would think it was imperative, but it was just for convenience I guess). The nurse only raved on and on and on and on about how great it was and how it could even clear acne, looking between me and her somewhat condescendingly at the mention of acne. Anyway, she failed to mention even one side effect, which birth control is known to have a long, long list of. I swear, you would think the woman was a salesperson.Other than the rude receptionists, which are just generally unpleasant to encounter, Speare Memorial Hospital is an absolute joke. I will always be grateful for modern medicine and the doctors who saved my life plus those who helped me along the way, but unfortunately, that does not include the careless, insensitive, and (again) rude medical professionals at Speare. Oh, and that one uneducated doctor (sounds like an oxymoron, I know) who had to take up someone's symptoms with Google. The Internet is free, but sadly that visit was not.

I've been debating posting this for a while, but my experience with some of the nursing staff here was absolutely horrid. I'd been puking for a week, couldn't even hold down water, and was in a significant amount of pain with pancreatitis. One nurse, Jess, was straight up YELLING at another staff member about keeping her insulin on the desk, then when I pressed the call light she stomped in like a moody teenager and when I asked for a popsicle (on a food plan that was basically just jello, broth, and popsicles) she made a face and asked are you sure, with your diabetes in an incredibly condescending tone. Seemed like she had something against diabetics. Another nurse, Debra, was downright snotty when I'd request a dose of pain meds (which the doctor had allowed every 3 hours), then she'd go to get it and not return for 15-40 minutes. I understand there are other patients, but putting meds in an IV takes maybe 5 minutes from leaving the room and finishing. My pain level would skyrocket till my heart rate was in the 150s yet it still felt like she didn't think I needed the medication. The other nurses were fantastic, but those two made an already horrid experience ten times worse.
