I too have experienced the poor medical billing practices that this group provides for the emergency room at Chi St. Lukes in Sugar Land. This group sent me one invoice and in two weeks turned me over to pre-collection for non-payment. They sent me a letter claiming they had mailed several notices then when confronted they admitted that my account showed I had only been sent one invoice.The doctor who saw me at the emergency room refuses to acknowledge her part in being contracted with this agency. The contract she has allows them to turn her patients over in 60 days from the date of treatment. It does not take into account when the patient becomes aware of the amount due. This is another example of how the healthcare administration industry and the medial field is ruining our access to quality honest medical care and practitioners and hospitals deflect blame to this company rather than acknowledge that they hired/contracted out this agency. It is time that doctors and hospitals start advocating for a better system than the one that the uphold.

The overall experience was wonderful. However, my first question when I walked up to the counter was ARE YOU IN NETWORK WITH BCBS? The lady at the desk said YES. Which is only 10% true. The doctor's are in network, but the facility and anything you get done or given at the ER is NOT in network with any insurance. Your insurance company will reimburse them for everything at In-Network rates but the facility will balance forward to the patient whatever fees they want to after that. Then, they expect that most people will pay it with no questions. If you do question them, the third party company that handles their billing will out right tell you that the information the patient receives at the ER is only half true. Then they will work with you to discount the bill. When I spoke with my insurance, they said that it is up to the facility to send you a bill or not, they don't have to send you a bill since they were already paid an In-Network rate from the insurance company. So, in other words they already got paid, now they are trying to get more money out of the patient!!! This is why our country is going to Hell in a hand basket!!! I intend to fight it. This is so wrong to do this to people who are in need of medical help. The medical care I received was prompt and professional, but to stick me with a huge bill after the fact is un-ethical.

Before I could complete the paperwork, I was called to the triage and then put in a room to see the nurse. Again before I could finish the paperwork, the nurse came in and once I had finally gotten through the 6 pages, the doctor came in. Dr. Wasso was very pleasant and one of the nicest physicians I have ever encountered. I would recommend this location.

The physicians from Larkin who do consult work at St. Luke's CHI in the medical center will scam you! They charged for services they didn't even provide and refused to help with resolving this billing issue. It's been a nightmare trying to deal with this group. Stay away from this place!
