Dr. Barnes and Sarah Federowicz are the best doctor and PA Iu2019ve ever had in my life.No exaggeration.I would give SMG 5 Stars, if it werenu2019t for the horrible patient portal. I am tech/computer savvy and the portal is impossible for me.Multiple times, I have physically had to go to SMG to get another Activation Letter to reset it. The portal constantly boots you out. When you type in your username and your password CORRECTLY, it doesnu2019t recognize you. And when you need to get into the portal, the only way you can get the problem corrected is to have them mail you yet another letter with yet another activation code, which takes several days, or you have to drive there in person, wait in line and have them print yet another letter for you. Then, hear the litany reasons why it might not work. You have to go home set it up on a laptop or desktop and use Google Chrome. Thatu2019s fine. I have it. But it still doesnu2019t work. Then, it has problems with the iPhone, so if you have an iPhone, as the majority of people do, that doesnu2019t work. u201cOh. It works on an Android.u201dEither way, you go home, follow the directions step-by-step, and the portal says it doesnu2019t recognize you and to call the office. AGAIN!This has happened so many times I am losing trust in SMG, particularly if I have some kind of a medical need that needs to be taken care of right away. The people at the front desk are overworked and overloaded. They are friendly and they do their best, but itu2019s difficult getting somebody on the phone. You could only wait on hold for so long.Thatu2019s why you need a patient portal that works. Thatu2019s why you should have a decent app that works.Again, the reason why I stay is because the doctor and the PA are the best I have ever had.The people at the front desk, through no fault of their own, are not I.T. experts to help you fix it. Apparently, there is somebody in the office who is supposedly able to help, but every time Iu2019ve called to ask for that personu2019s help, sheu2019s not there. It just shouldnu2019t be that hard. Can only imagine what it must be like for an older patient or somebody who is not technically savvy to have to go through this just to try to communicate with their medical provider. Please get an app! And preferably, one that works, versus having to go to a website that has a portal that doesnu2019t work.

My wife recently became a new patient and is very happy. She feels heard, not judged and open to talk. My wife also cares for an elderly woman who comes here too. Every appointment with her has been pleasant, efficient and over all a good experience! Two happy patients.

My Wife started going to Southgate a year ago, under the care of Dr Riddenbauch. First appointment was with a PA, Janet May, then she had a subsequent follow up with Dr Riddenbauch. I really wouldnu2019t bother leaving a review, but itu2019s important. If you need to see someone for basic medical care by all means this place is a good place to go. If you have a complex medical history, this isnu2019t the place for you. The first time my Wife saw her, she was overwhelmed & simply said u201cI donu2019t know what to do!u201d After seeing her, my Wife VERY quickly lost close to 50 lbs in a matter of a month to a month & a half. She called trying to get help from her. At first, it started with going to her GI. She got scopes done at the beginning of June & I canu2019t tell you how many times Dr Riddenbauch told her she had to get them done (they were originally scheduled for August) & after telling her numerous times they were done, it was as if she kept forgetting. To top it off, she would send orders for tests that had already been preformed when she had scopes done. Frustrating! In the end, she told my Wife to go to a nutritionist & never spoke of her weight loss again. My Wife would ask for different tests, she would order the same exact tests she ordered a month prior & follow it with u201cI donu2019t know what else to dou201d. Paula sent a letter in the mail warning her about not following Dru2019s recommendations. Anytime my Wife asked her for anything, sheu2019d either order the same testing already done, or just flat out say no. She was seeing a specialist around the time that Dr Riddenbauch ordered some bloodwork, & the lab asked my Wife if she wanted to do duplicate bloodwork because she could end up with a bill. No oneu2019s trying to get stuck with a bill, so she did the bloodwork her specialists ordered & unfortunately it was never sent to Southgate. It was eventually sent to her. Dr Riddenbauch ordered a Chest CT & Abdominal/Pelvic CT both w/contrast. My Wife told her 5 times that she cannot have contrast as she has a horrendous reaction to it. While the nurses actually understood, & agreed that she shouldnu2019t have to go through testing like that, Dr Riddenbauch REFUSED to re-write the orders w/out contrast. How does a Dr force someone to go through something that they have a REACTION to, to the point that they scream to get out of a CT machine, but then punish them in the end because it couldnu2019t be done? I personally called & left Paula a voicemail regarding these 2 things in January, & never got a response. My Wife was released from her neurologist, & within one week.. she was released from Southgate. She went to her PCP about something that you should be able to & she released her. Dr Riddenbauch didnu2019t know the full story, she assumed. This woman has NO idea what happened, & just let her go. She had an appt scheduled where she was going to explain everything, plus explain the contrast issue, however, she never had the opportunity to have that appt. In the mess of everything, Dr Riddenbauch told her to take 1000s of MGs of Ibuprofen &/or Tylenolu2026 my Wife is allergic to both. I can understand if your in say the hospital & they offer that.. because your not their patient & you canu2019t expect them to know absolute you canu2019t have something, you have to tell them. But your primary? Thatu2019s really unacceptable, in my opinion. My Wife called Paula, never got a return call. I called Paula, never got a return call. Please know that you have a doctor that argued a painful, excruciating contrast reaction, telling them no, they had to have it. & proceeded to tell them to take medication they were allergic to, while following up with u201cWell, thatu2019s what she recommendsu201d. Said no at every turn. & did the bare minimum. My Wife has lost ALL trust in doctors, & Dr Riddenbauch really topped it off. People like that, shouldnu2019t be doctors.

Called to establish care, was told I'd be contacted by the scheduler next week. Well, here I am four weeks later writing this review. If your process and scheduling software requires you to do this despite already having the person on the phone, you should re-evaluate.

Doctors and nurses are top notch. The staff is the worst! Always distracted and having conversations when they should be doing their jobs. NO privacy! Had my personal information and diagnosis broadcast in a loud voice to everyone in the waiting room. Never going back, not that they care.....
