Exceptional Hospital! If I could give more stars I would. I'm not sure why there are some bad reviews. Mom and I were very impressed with the caring and knowledgeable Nurses, Doctors, Case workers, Physical Therapists, volunteers and others who took extra time and effort to ensure my father was given the care he needed. They took the time to answer any questions we had. I've been to other hospitals in PA, but this one exceeds them by far! THANK YOU EPHRATA HOSPITAL FOR YOUR SERVICE! WE APPRECIATE ALL YOU DO!

I've had many experiences with WellSpan but few, if any, as impactful as our experience tonight as the Emergency Department, Behavioral Health unit with Troy and the amazing team of women who were working tonight.nnIn a moment of family crisis with our young, autistic daughter, Troy and his team were fantastic to work with. Tonight was an intense and hard night for any parent, but everyone at the hospital was wonderful.nnTroy was especially great. He was forward with us, offering us a truly empathetic but also very clear understanding of what would come next. He treated my wife and I with a bedside manner that is rare and took even greater care and compassion with our daughter.nnI truly believe this team will take care of my daughter and get her to the right place. Thank you to the whole department!

Doctor Notes:nnu201cAdditional info: Patient non compliant and defiant. Patient given iv dilaudid prior to scan and still moving.u201dnnPatient Response:nnI would be more professional and avoid using the terms u201cnon compliantu201d and especially u201cdefiantu201d when working with a patient that is in and communicated extreme pain.nnThe MRI doctor/tech appeared to be agitated upon entry of lab/testing room. I told her that I would not be able to lay flat for the test because of overwhelming pain. I told her that I was informed that I would be given medication before being brought to MRI Lab. The charge nurse arrived moments later. He said that he must have been on the phone when the order came in. He quickly injected the Dilaudid medication into the IV. There was very minimal wait time before beginning the MRI. I reiterated that I am in too much pain to lie totally still for the MRI. After some time, the doctor or MRI technician entered the room to say that u201cu2026you are moving around too much, thatu2019s why your images are crapu201du2026..we are not doing these overu2026nI told her that I am trying and will take whatever I could get at that point because of the pain.nI did not return to Ephrata Community Hospital. The next day, I received care at St Joseph ER in Reading. I had spinal surgery 2 days later at the same hospital.

They let my 3 year old sit in the waiting room puking and dehydrated for 3 hrs before we even got a room. Then after getting a room it was still another hour until they got her meds for puking and an IV for fluids. If you have a life and death emergency don't go here you will die in the waitingroom. However I will say the Older gentleman volunteer named Hal was absolutely wonderful. Our Nurse Megan was great and she put up with me being a worried mama very well. The Triage nurse was a bit snappy when I told her my daughter had a fever and that her under the tounge thermometer wasn't gonna be right she snapped at me and asked me how exactly I wanted her to take her temp. I then told her in her bottom how I always do at home. Low and behold she did in fact have a fever. Our nurse Megan listened to me and agreed she indeed had a fever even after getting an almost normal temp in her arm pit she got her some ibuprofen regardless of the crappy thermometer. So thank you Megan for taking what I said in to consideration.
