If I could give negative Stars I would! A year ago this past June, this Hospital's neglecting duties and treating our mother on hunches and guesswork killed our mother!nnTheir lack of detailed Professional Care caused her health to fail miserably from the time she went in till the time she passed away! Approximately 4 hours into hospice after 3 weeks plus at this poor excuse for a Hospital, our mother passed away!!nThey inundated her with medicines on the third of a chance that she may have had an infection from a surgery she was coming back strongly from!! They put the medicine in our mother and her health And spirit declined rapidly! The medicine caused an infection in her!nI truly believe it's because she was over-medicated with antibiotics she wasn't in need of! They were guessing on medicating her they were guessing on many things throughout her treatments and experimenting on her! Dr Schaefer recommended this Hospital, telling my brother and I that it would be a much quicker recovery from her mildly cracked hip surgery if she went to this Hospital instead of Grand Rapids!! I have no respect for that man as a doctor or a person!! Their doctor who was head of infectious diseases at the time literally told my brother they were going to Medicate her with strong antibiotics on the third of a chance that she May have an infection! As soon as that medicine went in her, a rapid decline in her health ensued! She came out of a very major surgery very strong and eating and talking and alert and smiling and as soon as they put that medicine in her she started declining very fast! Many of the treatments they implemented were all based on guesswork!nWhen she initially came in( to Sturgis Hospital), for a minor fracture in her hip area, they neglected to give her medicines that she'd been taking all her life for manic depression! This caused her mind to become broken dr. Schaefer, in orthopedic surgeon convince my brother and I on a phone call that in his expert professional opinion her bone cracked because she has some kind of a cancer or an infection in the bone! He recommended she be transferred to Ascension Borgess hospital in Kalamazoo! Telling us they had experts there one doctor in particular whose name I forget, that could diagnose and rectify this issue with her hip and get her out quicker than going anywhere else! They conducted tests on her which revealed no infection in the bone and no cancers! They continued doing guesswork and treating her with their guesswork! They treated her for the infection that she ended up not having in her bone! They dropped the ball on her manic depression medicine there as well and neglected to give her all in Total 1 and 1/2 doses she missed ! All these doses of course Very vital to her mental stability and her mind function as it is a chemical imbalance that it was treating! They continue to guess and speculate issues that may be causing underlying problems for our mother , and providing treatments for what they guess was going on ! They even gave her psychiatric medicines without even any authorization !nI would never recommend this hospital for anyone! I can't even express in words that this stain and disrespect that I have for this hospital and the staff that was supposed to care for our mother!!nStay away from this Hospital! They operate on guesswork and hunches! Our loved ones are not laboratory animals! Our mother was a very strong woman until this Hospital got a hold of her!!!
