I normally donu2019t do reviews, but felt I should this time to express my great experience with and appreciation to Dr. Smith and his staff. Initially, I heard of Dr. Smith from 2 coworkers that he had performed back surgery on and he came highly recommended. My story begins with me having severe right hip and leg pain and tingling/numbness that was worse with sitting and walking. I was able to get my initial appointment with Dr. Smith just 2 days after my PCP initially tried to get me in. I felt confident in these providers when during this visit Dr. Smith and his FNP Bethany Millsaps observed findings on my MRI imaging that the radiologist had missed when reading the MRI. (I thought I had a herniated disc -according to the MRI impression results, but was found to have a synovial cyst, causing my issues). I got scheduled for surgery five days after my initial visit. The preop process was set up by Dr Smithu2019s scheduler, Ashley Blevins. This process was easy. All I had to do was show up. Ashley was also very kind and helpful every time I had to call her concerning some additional paperwork that needed completed by their office. I saw Dr. Smith (along with all the other preop staff at Wellmont hospital in Kingsport) before going into surgery. When I woke up in the recovery room, I had no hip or leg pain nor any tingling/ numbness as I did prior to surgery. I also had no incisional pain in the recovery room. When I got to my room, the only pain I had was when I got up and down from the bed and from the toilet. Let me say I was expecting a lot of postop pain because I had to have a right hemilaminectomy of L4 & L5 (this procedure, cut through muscle, and also cut a small piece of bone from these vertebrae). My pain felt only like muscle pain when getting up and down. ( I am comparing this to the only other incision-I have had - which was a C-section. This pain initially, and during my recovery was much less than with the C-section). I was discharged the next morning, and did great at home. I did not require any pain medication because the only pain I had was still just when getting up and down and that became less and less every day. I was getting around great and by day 2 I was doing some light housework, (such as washing dishes, and doing laundry - with the assistance of a grabber). I love the fact that I could login to Blue Ridge and leave messsges for FNP Bethany regarding any concerns I was having and she replied back the same day. I am thrilled about how my recovery has progressed. I was expecting it to be a whole lot worse. I have had a 2 week and a 5 week postop visit so far and still have had no pain other than what I mentioned earlier. I do highly recommend Dr. Smith to anyone requiring neurosurgical treatment.

Fired them today! Had an 11 am appointment last Tuesday. Was there 3 and a half hours. Doctor was with me about 10 minutes. Asked what I wanted him to do! He dissed my MRI. Said it was not good enough. Supposed to make an appointment for me for another MRI. Waited a week and no appointment. The NP, who was the only nice person there , ask if I wanted a pain injection. Yes! Need something. Said they would make a referral to pain doctor. Would take maybe 2 weeks for the appointment . Anyway, I called yesterday. Had to leave a message. Wanted to know when MRI was scheduled. No call back. The more I thought about it, the more upset I got. So, this morning I called and left a message telling them I no longer wanted there services. Guess what? Got a call within 15 minutes wanting to schedule a MRI. Said pain doctor was out of the country! I fired them. Best I have felt in weeks.

Dr. Ken Smith and his organization brought me back from the dead to a new and better life. I had several disks broken and pressed together. The surgery took hours and a box was built, using my own crushed bones that held my discs, fixed and put inside this protective cage. Rehab from this surgery was painful and took time. I did exactly what I was told to do. I took the meds I was given to take and when Dr. Smith told me, I have done all I can do for you; the rest is up to you. I knew that I was done. I had gone through exercises with his Rehabilitation department, did everything they told me to do and have no problems what so ever with my back today. I can tell you when it is going to rain from small twinges but feel as if Dr. Ken Smith was a miracle worker for me. Listen to your doctor, do what they say to do and this miracle can be yours. I recommend Dr. Smith and the Blue Ridge Neuroscience Center.

Doctor P is dishonest we have been waiting for over 2 hours now and still havenu2019t seen anyone total upset at this point. The staff lie and cover up for the Doctors this is a Post Op visit and we have to see a nurse practitioner whereu2019s the Doctor and why canu2019t we question him we were told by the staff upon arrival that we would see the nurse first then the doctor, when the nurse came in after 2 hours we asked to see the Doctor she was quick to tell us heu2019s not in the office today and wonu2019t be. Stay as far away from this practice as you can We had problems with the doctor in the Hospital and it hasnu2019t changed going to the office Now we canu2019t get a clear answer on test results and all week when I called them to see if the test results were in which I knew they had( I called the Lab ) and they lied about it yet again. So if the test are inconclusive Why would you send someone for chemo or radiation treatment if they donu2019t have a clear test result which by the way is from JOHNS HOPKINS. We had to threaten, moving my husband to get answers in the hospital after 2 days of no communication all the sudden within 3 minutes Iu2019m not only getting a call from his nurse but 6 minutes later we get a visit from the surgeon MIRACULOUSLY JUST LIKE THAT NOW THEY ARE HEARING US. Very unprofessional and when we asked about the surgeons reputation we heard from Hospital staff they call him the BUTCHER. STAY CLEAR OF David Pryputniewicz MDHeu2019s a horrible doctor and worse person
