The doctors, nurses, and other medical staff were very professional. I mostly had complaints over the overall care. Dirty room and hours would go by before you were checked on. Using the call button was a wait and see if anyone responded. Had to ask what was going on because I didn't receive any information. What happened to the care here?

My boyfriend had to stay here last night due to his appendix. He ended up needed to get surgery. The ER staff was great and so was the surgeon. some of the nurses were good to except for the last nurse, I donu2019t remember her name but, As we were getting ready to be discharged this girl basically threw the discharge papers at me and said you can read them at home. She didnu2019t not go over anything! As she was trying to get my boyfriend to get out of bed I quickly Started reading over the papers and a lot of the stuff on them wasnu2019t right, for example they wanted him to go back to work on the same day he has surgery! But when the surgeon talked to me he said he needed 6 weeks off! And than another thing on the paper was saying my boyfriend may have cancer. They never once mentioned it to me. And when I brought It up to the nurse she goes I didn't Diagnosed him so I don't Know what to tell you. She was trying to get us to rush out of the room and go home even tho he just woke up from surgery maybe 2 hours ago. She was very rude about everything and got really sassy with me when my boyfriend wanted me to help him get dressed bc she said I should Have gotten the car so he could left faster. Very disappointedu2026

To Whom It May Concern,nnI am writing on behalf of my aunt, a recent patient at Borgess Hospital, to express my deep concern and disappointment regarding the substandard care she received during her 8 night stay on 3N.nnOn March 3, my aunt suffered a heart attack, which led to her hospitalization. Tragically, she suffered a stroke the morning of her scheduled cardiac procedure.nnUnfortunately, her experience was marred by alarming lapses in care and unacceptable conditions. Specifically:nn1. Filthy hospital rooms, lacking basic essentials like toilet paper, paper towels, and soap.n2. Unemptied trash, unswept floors, and unattended soiled linens for eight days.n3. Food trays left in the bathroom for extended periods.n4. Nursing staff demonstrated a lack of compassion and understanding, asking my aunt to handle heavy trays while using the bathroom despite her weakness.n5. A nurse rolled her eyes at my aunt, displaying unacceptable behavior.n6. Inadequate therapy sessions, with only three sessions in eight days, which is unacceptable for a stroke patient.n7. Therapy staff left the gate belt on her bed, resulting in a mark on her back from the metal part.n8. A registered nurse instructed my aunt to pee in her bed at night, despite being capable of getting up with assistance.n9. She received only two showers during her stay, both done by a family member, not hospital staff.n10. The call light system failed to ensure timely responses, resulting in my aunt taking herself to the bathroom, which is not acceptable for a stroke patient. This led to an incident where she soiled herself due to delayed assistance.n11. Medication, including an inhaler and blister packs of Tylenol, and several unopened needles were left in the room, posing a risk to patient safety.nnAs a former employee of Borgess Hospital (2N and Emergency Department), I am appalled by the decline in care and standards. During my time, I took pride in providing exceptional patient care, which included regular hourly rounds, clear communication, and compassion and respect.nnI urge you to take immediate action to address these issues and ensure that patients receive the dignity and care they deserve.nnI hope this letter finds its way into the hands of somebody with a heart, somebody with respect, and somebody with compassion.

I had to go in to the ER for severe pain in my abdomen, that led to surgery. The staff were all so very kind and caring! Elise, the main nurse I had in the ER and observation was especially awesome! Dr O'Brien and the other surgeons were wonderful as well. They were very direct and clear, took the time to answer all my questions, and did their absolute best to keep my pain level down before and after surgery. I'm super glad that my husband chose to take me here when I told him I didn't care which hospital he took me to!

Had a procedure done and all aspects from start to completion, including recovery, were well explained. The anesthesia team took time to discuss a previous experience while under at a different facility with me, and was greatly appreciated. My only dissatisfaction was the cleanliness of the check in kiosk, fingerprints and filth galore. I can understand it may not be feasible to have someone clean them after each use but maybe offer an option for those coming to use them to wipe them down prior to use.
