I will start off by saying that I have literally never left a review for anything, however I have never had such a strong urge to do so after my recent visit with Dr. Avery Browne at AFC Urgent Care in South Plainfield. I am a woman who was struggling with a women's health issue and was in extreme discomfort. I felt a little uneasy about being seen by a male doctor and he did not help the situation at all by his horrific bedside manner. I have never in my 30 years of life been spoken to by a doctor in the way that he did. He had a horrible attitude since the moment he stepped into the room but I tried to look past it & talked to him with complete respect until he gave me an attitude about me asking a simple question about clarifying how to take the specific course of medication he mentioned he was going to prescribe. He said u201cI literally told you three times alreadyu201d in the most annoyed tone, and I can guarantee that he absolutely did not explain it to me three times. Even if he already had told me though and I was asking for clarification because of a misunderstanding, it is my right as a patient to walk out of there not being confused about how to take a certain course of medication. He could have easily told me to read the instructions and that they will explain everything in a professional manner if he felt that bothered by explaining the instructions to me, but the way he spoke was just so demeaning. Then when I addressed how I felt uncomfortable by his attitude, his bedside manner became from bad to worse. Itu2019s just too much to type out and his demeanor is too hard to explain through text. He kept cutting me off, talking over me, and just giving off the feeling that I was a bother for existing in his presence which made discussing an already sensitive womenu2019s health issue even more difficult. I just want him to know that he is the reason why many women feel uncomfortable about being seen by male doctors for women's issues especially. I felt uncomfortable about being checked by him but was polite about relaying that and I was considering changing my mind but as mentioned, his attitude and words that got worse progressively and showed that he could not care any less/was just waiting for the moment that he could walk out, made me feel even more uncomfortable to consider that option. In an attempt to cut an even longer story short, I actually ended up getting into a argument with a doctor for the first time in my life and was in tears in my car after I left because of the humiliation I experienced about an already sensitive womanu2019s medical issue. Please ladies, stay away from this doctor if possible. Easily the worst doctors visit I have ever had.
