Took a friend to ER, registration showed a scary lack of urgency and understanding of a possible dangerous situation, I was asked to get my friend a wheelchair when I asked for him to not be asked to walk (he was very dizzy and had balance issues), no doctor ever saw my friend or came into the emergency room my friend was in, an overconfident PA was sent to relay important medical test results, when we were told my friend could leave, we were left alone. My friend had to slide to the end of the bed to avoid the side rails, disconnect all of his own monitoring wires and remove sticky patches on his body and literally walk out of the room and to the hospital exit doors with no wheelchair or assistance which was dangerous as he was already labeled a fall risk by the hospital staff. Very odd ER experience that did not instill any confidence in the hospital at. I will give Hope, the ER nurse, an excellent recommendation- she did her job well with compassion, knowledge and great communication. Overall, unfortunately, I cannot recommend Carson Tahoe Hospital and if you have a choice, go to Reno to choose another hospital.

**ER DOES NOT charge insurance**nnI would give 0 stars if I could. Even though they ask you for insurance, the billing team is absolutely useless, unfriendly and unhelpful. I came in because I was well, having an emergency. (Gallbladder needed to be removed) told me they could not help me and said I should go to Renown instead. Don't worry they still sent me my $2k bill for doing absolutely nothing, even while I was in extreme pain. Unfortunately, being petty and not paying the bill immediately meant the bill went to collections and once it did, I called to try to pay, and the hospital staff said well nothing we can do now, **they wouldn't even help me with the itemized charges.** Plus, I am assuming in their paperwork, they charge interest, because the collection agency now charges interest and is also unwilling to provide itemized charges so I could submit to my insurance. Zero care for their patients. I would recommend avoiding them if possible. Renown does have an urgent care in town, and the Renown in South Meadows has much faster processing for patients. If you can manage the drive, I would recommend going to Renown. But seriously, shame on Carson Tahoe.

Amazing hospital! Amazing staff! Top tier experience. My wife and I welcomed our daughter here on March 16th 2025 and I cannot say enough good things. Truly an incredible place to have a baby. A special thanks to each individual that was involved.

They took excellent care of my mother during her 5 day stay on the med-onc unit. In the ED, they started her treatment quickly and got her upstairs within 3 hours. Wonu2019t hesitate to return or recommend this hospital.

UpdatenSome things better, some things the same, but the sky bridge is awesomenn----nnLived here all my life, ER, hospital, Ancillary service have been just OK. Back office staff needs serious training. Routinely get called, literally within the hour of having to leave for MRI, CT something, to tell me what can't have the imaging or procedure done because the doctor sent the wrong code. WTH....the order surs there two months and scheduled for a well over a month and NOW it an emergency on my part. I can't count how many times CTH has delayed my care and caused me unwarranted stress, anxiety and pain because of this. It's always, we have been trying g to get a hold of your doctor. Well, apparently not, because every time I call, I get a call back, usually within an hour, always be the end of day if call in the morning.nSeriously, office staff is not capable of doing their job. If this was a one off thing, I wouldnt be so bothered, but it has happened twice in 2023 and a good 5-6 times in the previous 5-6 years. So, if you look at it as needing scheduled imaging or a procedure once a year for slowly processing problems, then that averages the almost every time. And it's not just one doctor they say they repeatedly try to contact. This last problem, I was in the doctor office to personally ensure that the correct info got to the hospital, then follow up the next day to ensure the email or fax was received and then scheduled appt. So, their staff is great a getting info, confirming info, but not hitting the SAVE button or importing the info toy file.nnER care has been consistently above average the past 10 years. Hospital stays, average to slightly below average. Always take an advocate that knows something about medicine...like an EMT friend...or you will get talked at not talked to and you have someone to actually get you help when you need it after sitting in a bed hitting your button for 30 minutes.
