DMC Huron Valley will always hold a special place in my heart, thanks to several nurses and doctors in Harris Womenu2019s Center. My son was born 3 weeks early due to preeclampsia and the staff went above and beyond to make sure my husband, baby and I were comfortable the entire time during our 3-night stay. Each and every nurse treated us with love and kindness (laughter too). They were attentive and never took more than a few minutes to answer my calls. They were always respectful if we were asleep and did their best to not wake baby or my husband. The list goes on and on. I would highly recommend this hospital for labor & delivery.

This is a terrible hospital! My son is disabled with only half of a heart and we went in because he had chest pains and they wouldn't do anything until his was registered and they couldn't register him because their printer was not working. Then they had no idea what his heart problem was and had to try to Google it to learn and still had no idea. The name of his heart defect speaks for itself! The medical term for his heart stuff literally means exactly what it says. I'm so upset and they all just stared at us like they were dumbfounded. I don't mean to sound disrespectful or ignorant but when you can't even understand a medical term for a condition while being a nurse or doctor than your either working in the wrong field or your trained/schooling sucks. I'm so upset about the situation. So I guess if you want to get the wise medical treatment go there. Don't go there if you have chest pains and a past record of heart attacks if you'd like to live. ud83eudd37u200du2640ufe0f

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AT THIS HOSPITAL! $5,000 for a shot, $900 for a Dr that didn't do anything. The ER Dr didn't do his job. I will never go here again. Every single time I've come here it's been a complete disaster. Left miserable in a hospital bed for a whole week because your Dr's wanted to Wait and See. You waited 4 days of me being in absolute tears before doing anything whatsoever. Even then, sent me home with absolutely nothing to help with my issues. This place is full of lazy Doctors who can't be bothered to do their job. Dr Cole is literally the only exception! She fought for me the whole time. The blood draw nurse should be fired. This place is a literal nightmare!

I highly recommend finding literally any other hospital to go to.I was in five days ago with kidney stones and was told to come back if the pain becomes severe again and I cannot keep water down, which I did.During my second trip I was asked if I caught any stones in a strainer or made an appointment with a urologist. Both are things that were not discussed with me. Nor did I receive the strainer that is supposed to be given to you. Yet the nurse blamed me for not catching the stones? After waiting four hours in the lobby I finally got to see a doctor for what felt like 30 seconds, he completely disregarded the fact that I have been passing kidney stones, and instead tried treating me for the flu.At the end when a different nurse came in to discharge me he told me what to take and do for the flu, I told him Iu2019m not here for the flu Iu2019m here for kidney stones and he was so confused and looked at me and said u201clike diagnosed?u201d The poor guy had no idea, so itu2019s not his fault that they sent him in to look stupid, but the whole department is lacking communication skills.

Parents: Please do not bring your babies or children to this Emergency department - I have legitimate concerns about the safety of babies and children. This hospital is right down the road from me and I had to bring my six month old here last night due to him uncontrollably vomiting and continuously going limp and in and out of consciousness. I had to start yelling for someone to help us because once we were given a bed, we were left alone for about thirty minutes while my baby continued to go completely limp. Nobody was monitoring him. Finally a nurse heard me yelling for help, saw my baby go limp, and ran and got a doctor. The doctor was completely clueless, didnu2019t give me any information, then disappeared for hours. Every time someone would come see my baby, it was followed by at least an hour of us being completely alone. There was nobody in sight, not even at the nurses station to monitor his vitals. The staff needed to give my baby an IV to draw his blood and hydrate him, but the nurse who inserted the IV didnu2019t hit a vein. They kept the IV in place, and whenever they tried to give my baby fluids, he would scream in pain and his arm would balloon up, and the nurses even noted this. Several nurses tried to find another place to administer an IV and eventually just gave up. So my baby had a needle in his arm for six hours that they couldnu2019t even use. Other than us being left alone for seven hours without being monitored, the staff not being able to administer an IV was the most alarming part of this experience. They just gave up and gave us a bottle of pedialyte (that he threw up), and came back over an hour later with no answers or solutions. We had to ask a janitor for help because we couldnu2019t locate any staff throughout the night, despite the ER being empty. I found a resident doctor and she said she would find the doctor to go over my sonu2019s labs since it had been hours. The resident doctor was then walking out with her backpack an hour later, made eye contact with me and apologized because she forgot to get the doctor. The doctor finally came in (six hours later) and said they donu2019t know whatu2019s wrong with my baby but he would give us Zofran. When asked, the doctor could not tell us how often to give it to our baby, and how many days to give it to him.We were then left alone again for an hour. We arrived at 5:00pm and at 11:50pm, I had to again ask a janitor if she could find someone for me because nobody had checked on us in hours, and nobody was at the nurses station. The charge nurse then appeared and said u201coh, I thought you were discharged already.u201d She then told us she was surprised my baby wasnu2019t transferred elsewhere, and told us that if we have another episode, to go somewhere with a pediatrics unit. I will never bring my child here again. Itu2019s like the staff have never cared for a baby before. I have never seen such poor communication, physical absence, lack of urgency, lack of care, and incompetence. IVs can literally save lives and the staff here couldnu2019t give one to my son and just gave up. They couldu2019ve used an ultrasound to locate a vein, but this wasnu2019t even explored. We were there for seven hours, given zero answers, and had to hunt and beg people to help us. We had the whole place to ourselves and I have no idea where the staff were. It pains me that Iu2019ll be receiving a fat bill for this. We wouldu2019ve had better luck at an urgent care. Our pediatrician previously told us to avoid bringing our baby here due to their similar concerns, but we had no choice due to my son going unconscious. If you can make it to Beaumont Royal Oak, please take your little ones there for emergencies.
