I walked into the ER in rough shape and left 1 1/2 hours later feeling great! From triage to labs and other tests their ER process is meant to flow efficiently and expeditiously. I was amazed at how everyone works in harmony to ensure a patient's experience is smooth and positive. I especially appreciated the staff who made me feel welcomed amt supported throughout my ordeal. I highly recommend the Knapp ER to anyone who needs their services.

I was admitted to the hospital on doctors orders for severe hydronephrosis of one kidney and a splenic mass. After two nights and three days at the hospital with mostly an NPO diet the only thing that was addressed was a bone marrow aspiration and biopsy, and my healthcare team insisted that they were not able to get a urologist to come and address the severe hydronephrosis which they suspected was a blockage at the junction of my ureter and bladder. I was sent home with pain meds to help me bridge the gap for an appointment a week later with a urologist, even though the initial reason why I was admitted had mostly to do with the hydronephrosis that was not addressed. I am very disappointed and angered that although my pain experience was high and the severity of the issue persists, I feel as though I have been gaslighted by the medical system. I want to clarify that all staff, including CNAu2018s, radiology techs, transport people, nurses, residents, and doctors were always kind, but that does not take away from the fact that the care I believe I should have received overall was subpar. Most staff rarely ever introduced themselves or their role upon entering my room, I never saw staff sanitize their hands before, or after entering my room, usually no one would review my labs, unless I inquired about reviewing them, and once I received the biopsy, I was not given instructions on care for the biopsy. I feel the system would benefit by implementing trainings like AIDET (AIDET is a communication framework that stands for Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explain, and Thank). I should also add that it was nearly impossible to get attention when I was due for my pain meds and on average, it would take one to two hours to get a nurse to visit my room after using the call button several times. To clarify, out of my entire stay I think only one nurse was on top of checking in on me without my having to wait long periods of times. Iu2019m not sure if this issue is attributed to being understaffed or break down in communication. Having worked in healthcare I found this hospital to be lacking in many ways as it pertains to great care and service. I should also add that there didnu2019t seem to be a lot of courtesy for patients rest because staff would often make excessive noise in the hallways by joking and laughing, and they really did not show any respect for quiet hours.

I have a great experience. Everything was fast. All the staff was kind and gave me precise instructions. Juan, the radiology tech was very thoughtful and walked me through to the all process. I can checked my results on-line the same day. Highly recommended. Francisco Obregon MD
