Wonderful ICU staff. My mom really appreciated that the nurses were quiet when they came in, especially at night. It is fine to be upbeat, but she doesn't want a nurse barging in at 4am with so much energy. She mentioned that one nurse would even come in with a flashlight instead of turning on her lights. It was nice that they considered how she might be feeling and even stepped up their game with the flashlight when she mentioned she appreciated not being disturbed at night so much here. Of course the food is terrible, but that is to be expected at a hospital now. The food at the cafe is much better so if you are here as a patient ask your guests to buy you food from the cafe before they come up. My mom loved it when I brought her soft serve from the cafe while visiting.

The wait time at this location is beyond insane! I am literally vomiting and have severe cramps with little to no concern from staff. They have no idea on timeline. Mind you I was sent via the Urgent Care with supposedly the same information, a call ahead reference to be put on the board. Clearly that meant absolutely NOTHING! Itu2019s been almost 2 hours of just waiting, in dire need of an IVu2026no help ud83dude22 waiting room has a total of 5 people in here waiting.

Had surgery there yesterday. What a mess. Guy putting in my drip line could not access. Another nurse had to come do it. Took her multiple tries. Had to go pee at one point and nobody would help me to toilet with my IV and heart rate machine attached. Finally an OR nurse came to get me for surgery, and I had told her Iu2019d been waiting 45 minutes to use the restroom. She was not happy. Then for an hour and a half surgery, I had nine different nurses helping me? There was just so much chaos. I didnu2019t feel well taken care of accept in the surgery room and the last and final nurse who seemed like she was the most qualified. Given a choice, Iu2019d pick another hospital.

Went to the ER for chest pain and SOB. What an experience. So many homeless and volatile individuals. ER smelled horrible. Patients yelling and kicking walls, laying in the middle of the ER floor. Nurses arguing with them and yelling back. Used the restroom in the back area of the ER, smelled like pee with a huge puddle on the floor. I was there for about 2 hours. saw the doctor for maybe 10 min. Ran tests. sat in my room in back for almost the entire time other then imaging. Listened to all the volitility wondering if I was even safe being there. No one checked on me or could have cared if I died in the room. I had to ask the transport lady for a blanket since I was sat in a chair with no blanket or anything and because of the IV I couldnu2019t put on my sweatshirt. Didnu2019t feel like i was evaluated fully even though tests were ran. Sent me home with continued chest pain, headache, racing heart and SOB. u201call your tests are normalu201d donu2019t know whatu2019s wrong. pretty much deal with it. Upon discharge Nurse pulled out my IV when removing the tape so now I have a big hematoma where my IV was. Definitely not the same ER it was years ago. Also another fine example of failed Portland leadership. despite my frustration I felt horrible that the staff had to deal with all this mess. Think Iu2019ll visit another ER next time.

My personal experience in late February 2025 was exemplary. Incredible doctors and nurses, including but not limited to Dr. Ho, Dr. Black, Dr. Young nurse Melyssa in the ICU. On the fourth floor nurses ColeTran, nurse Amy, nurse Nguyen, nurse Lisa and several others. All were attentive, caring, and professional. Very high-quality people all the way around. The administration is doing a fantastic job hiring and keeping people of this caliber.
