UPDATE 5/7/25....The immediate positive response from the new leadership team regarding our situation has been phenomenal. They replied in less than 24 hours and are working toward resolving this issues... I am deeply moved by the true genuine concern they have expressed. My rating will be changed to 5 stars.............................................(1 star rating posted 5/6/25)Very very negative experience. My husband went to the Family Health West Hospital's emergency room due to a stomach infection. We checked in and provided our insurance info and paid the ER fee. The hospital staff did a GREAT job in treating him and after a couple of hrs was sent home with antibiotics to treat the infection. The nightmare began at a later stage: A few days after the treatment he went to get a copy of his scan and asked what we owed so we could settle any outstanding charges. They looked in the account and he was told that we DID NOT owe anything so he left. 11 months later we got a bill in the mail for over $2,000 for services rendered. He called the hospital and spoke to billing. They informed him that our insurance had taken a long time to process and as such the charges were legit. Contacted our insurance company, they stated that the hospital had taken a long time to submit the charges. The service price was incredibly high, he asked the billing gentlemen what we could do to have that re-considered, and he replied that we could appeal the process via our insurance. So we appealed more than once. The insurance company informed us that we did not have to do anything during the appeal process as they would inform the hospital. After almost 9 months of failed appeals the final appeal was denied and the hospital called, asking to get paid. My husband asked to be connected with the financial hardship department within the billing department as we were not able to pay the bill in full. The same gentlemen stated that we were outside of the 6 month overdue period for them to consider financial hardship, but he would check with his supervisor and get back to us. A few days later a lady called us. She was apparently the gentlemen's, supervisor handeling financial hardship cases. She was clearly offended that we had not paid the bill and gave the impression that we were clearly in the wrong and was bothered that we were even asking. My husband clearly explained why we were outside the allotted time period, but she did not care. Several times he informed her that we would like to solve this and pleaded with her to consider our case. We had just had another experience with another hospital in the valley with one of our daughters who almost died from a mountain bike accident, and they were considerate and compassionate and understanding of our financial hardship. Family Health West turned us over to a collection agency and that agency has filed a court summonds and delivered the summonds to our door this weekend. on Monday, May 5th I quickly went to the courthouse and the clerk explained that we would have to pay fees to file our answer and that the case would go to the judge or pay more fees to have a jury trial.I wish the billing department of this hospital would have shown the same caring, compassion and understanding on the same level as their wonderful emergency room team did, but sadley they did not.I hope the hospital can improve on the post procedure of billing and understand what a hardship they have brought to our my family.

It was our turn for our first COVID-19 vaccination. I was expecting some sort of organized chaos. What a wonderful surprise to find that the day after day event was amazingly well organized. Due to the excellent appointment process it was not crowed and there were virtually no lines. From the paperwork to the injection the process was smooth and fluid. Our military could probably learn a thing or two about logistics from these folks. The staff was extraordinarily well organized, friendly, and polite. The whole thing gave me confidence in the process and the staff.

Very little wait for the Emergency department but the Dr's are dismissive and disinterested. Lab/Imaging is a farce. Pre op imaging took 2 hours since the machine kept shutting down and no one seemed to know how to fix it or reboot it. Nurses are great here, but Dr's could use some improvement and retraining on what bedside manner truly means.
