A Health Hazard Disguised as a HospitalThis was my first and only experience with Mercy Hospital under Dignity Health, and I can say without exaggeration that I would prefer to go to an unlicensed facility before returning here.My 75-year-old relative was admitted to the emergency department due to a mental health crisis. What we encountered was appalling: the room was filthy, littered with trash, floors unmopped, no bedding, walls stained, and an overwhelming stench filled the air. This was not an isolated issue--both rooms we were moved through were in similarly unsanitary condition. While the hospital often responds to public reviews citing privacy concerns, I found this ironic. As a licensed psychologist, I was shocked by the complete disregard for HIPAA. Conversations about treatment were held openly, with no effort to preserve the dignity or confidentiality of patients in crisis.I visited two different bathrooms on two different floors, and both reeked of urine. I'm not sure how a hospital could maintain a level of cleanliness worse than a gas station restroom, but somehow this facility managed it.Despite being cities away, I felt I had no choice but to remove my relative from their care. The conditions were simply unpalatable and not conducive to anyone's healing--particularly someone experiencing a mental health episode.*Highlights*(because credit is due):The security staff were very kind and helpfulPhone calls were answered promptlyMedical staff were personable and kindThey showed compassion toward patients with mental health conditionsHowever, compassion alone cannot make up for the deplorable conditions and lack of basic patient privacy. I sincerely hope Dignity Health re-evaluates the standard of care provided at this hospital--especially for vulnerable populations. If you are ever in a crisis call 911 and ask for a different hospital intake.

I had the best care ever. My nurse's treated me with the utmost respect and my Dr was Awesome. I was in bad shape when I arrived to ER and they whisked me in right away. It was on a Tuesday morning. I did spend 3 days in the hospital. The beds are horrible, NOT comfy at all and the food could be better but it's not the Hilton so I can't complain. Yet,the staff was great.

Had a left knee total replacement done at Dignity. Every step of the process from, post op informational meeting, to in home therapy & nurse visits after surgery, was top notch. I am very impressed with the professionalism displayed by all staff. I really enjoyed the time spent with pre/post op staff. Overall it was an excellent experience. My thanks to all Dignity Health Staff for jobs well done!

I have never seen your people so rude before. I have been in there a few times and last time was wonderful. I hated to leave . Well I'll start at the Door those people you have there are under a lot. I can see that. There was the first person was total b word. Not only to me but everyone that in line. I came at shift change thinking that would be better. Because I don't take B/S from anyone. I was trying to answer her question and when I did she jumped down my throat. Hey I know a lot of people and I am a good guy. What is right is right. The second lady was cool she took my temp and blood pressure She said go sit back down and I did then called again behind the big glass window inside on the number 2 side and those three were rude. One never said anything the two were asking questions I answered to the best my ability. And they kept asking the questions over a again. One would ask then the other would ask the same thing. Like I am trying get something from them. After that they sent me back out to sit down . The longer I say there the more I couldn't believe I was talked to like that. If you could heard there voices I think you would been upset to. I have a witness to the first go around. And she has no plans of going back to your hospital either. You think it is that there is only two people upset . I am well like in this town. And I will be telling anyone I can about the start and the end of my stay at your hospital. Sorry it has to be like this but someone needs to step up. It isn't only the hospital it is the private doctor

I edited my review because I donu2019t believe the problem I had should affect the staff and hospital review.I am a family member and my experience is just as important as the patient because I can see how the patient is being treated where the patient may not be aware. This hospital has the most awesome staff from the cafeteria to the gift shop to security to the nurses and doctors.Chelsea is my favorite of the nurses because she is not just in and out, she talks to you and asks questions that no one else has asked so she is more aware of the patientu2019s needs than the others. They make me feel that my comfort is as important as the patient.I love the morning prayer. The food is appealing and the cafeteria makes sure you know you have options. I could go on and on. The best hospital I have ever experienced.
