I am a disabled veteran that was rear ended while visiting Macon. I hurt my head and the ambulance that came to the scene said I should come to this hospital in case I had trauma. It was horrible upon arrival. It also had a horrible smell. My room was filthy with gnats flying around. The nurse, Bethany was rude and insulted my intelligence during a conversation about a cat scan and she had some kind of condition that looked contagious. What happened to medical professionals having compassion for patients?nnSome other ladies (Nurses ?)came in and helped me and the one star goes to them because they were nice as one escorted my mother to my room and the other removed my IV. I elected to leave and go to another hospital that would tear me like I am human.nAs stated by all of the other reviews , donu2019t go to this place. It needs to be shut down, exterminated, thoroughly cleaned, and staffed with medical professionals that care.

I only give a single star for the few staff workers that are actually worth something here. however response time to a majority of the doctors and their neglect of actually listening to their patients is disgusting. To think that they would treat patients who serve their country this way is absolutely mind boggling. Too many have a superior complex that needs to be knocked down multiple pegs and need to actually take their patients seriously. too many nights i listened over phone calls with floor nurses of being blown off when communicating of severe pain. Guess we were not important enough. Even when they do come around, many come with attitude and leave you feeling unheard and cared for.nnI just cant.

Why doesnu2019t this hospital have a lactation room for employees? I have to pump my breast in this dusty unclean room??? I believe I was lied tou2026u2026 I just canu2019t believe this hospital doesnu2019t have a designated area for lactating employees.nnNote: there is no sink for me to properly clean my breast pump nor is there a refrigerator TO STORE MY MILK. I will have to wash my pumping equipment in the sink in the room where the sick patient I sit with is. Nurses wash their hands and pour liquids in the sink Iu2019m going to have to wash my pumping equipment in. Iu2019m working a 12+ shift. I will definitely have to discard the milk that I have pumped because I have no refrigerator to store it in.

I see and understand a lot people frustration over their own experiences in the past. From my experience I can see they're trying to change everything and how it's being run. Nurses I had met were nice and sweet, gave informative information, explain to me about what medicine I'm being given, and what it's purpose. They check in with you day and night with care. Hand out surveys asking what can be improved upon, what needs to change.nnThe Doctors seemed great, gave me great amount information and spent about 2 to 3 minutes explaining the results of lab and what can be done.nOnly bad thing was results taking over a day to be given, and determined what going on. I rather have them take their time understanding results than to speed through it unless it's necessary for medical reasons.nnNow my only problems were waiting too long for everything. I came in early in the morning and left waiting for about 4 to 5 hours to be given temporary room then waited extra 3 to 4 hours to another temporary room. Didn't expect to stay multiple days, almost entire week but nurses kindness and care made everything ok overall. Just didn't enjoy waiting for lab work and being treated. I can see where this problem lies here because they seem outnumbered with influx of patients coming in and out of the Emergency Center, there so much can be handled by small group of staff in limited time.nnSo I understand people frustration with lack of follow up in one day or other stuff going on, everything is understandably set up to focus more on patients in critical conditions. I'm going say Nurses are the backbone of this hospital and doctors are well mannered and didn't dismiss anything.nnTo address condition of the hospital, it was mostly clean within rooms and bed being taken care of. Certain parts might seem outdated and I'm not sure people should completely blame the Hospital staff for that, when it's Macon. A city that poorly funded and has terrible history of managing investments to the city itself. People shouldn't expect it to be modern 100% compared to Atlanta. Not saying we don't have the right to clean and safe hospital, just don't expect everything to be perfect when you're here. My entire experience here was mostly good and had few cons here and there but nothing where it had me saying it's awful. Hopefully this hospital can receive more doctors and nurses to increase efficient services including getting patients in and treating patients so new patients don't have to wait too long.

Dr. Vaughn an absolute professional very caring. And any residents training under him will be the best providers if they follow his methos. Working in Healthcare is no easy feat. Nurses Anthony, the nurse he turned over with her name escapes me but she was on her last hour on her shift so sweet! Techs Darlene and Mia so sweet and compassionate. There were two that represent the empty star Nurse Wanda and Tech Rekita. They had attitude and displayed an uncaring non compassionate demeanor it was startling. Nurse Wanda could be going thru something or suffering from healthcare fatigue but she didnt return to check IV placement when it was brought to her attention and i had to ask for patient transport twice after she asked us to specifically tell her when were at the curb. The first time we got the car ready at the pick up waited for 15min my mom was still waiting in the room. Cant park in the drop off/pick up area so i had to go back in and ask for transport again. When we walked out of the room we saw Nurse Wanda ran from the hallway to seek refuge in an empty patient room after locking eyes with us. Idk why. I dont think we were complicated or difficult. I asked for a warm blanket for my mom they didnt have a blanket warmer on that floor (7th Main Building) we layered up. My husband and i stayed overnight and are both Navy Corpsmen so we shared sympathy and would do as much on our own with what was allowed (we asked for permission each time) so to not constantly call the nurse station for trivial things.
