The place is a scam they put a gym in there 2 years ago and no one has ever worked out in it yet. A lot of the Counselors, have they do favoritism? Some of them are racisthey have a brand new stadium or kitchen where it has like the salad bar and everything you don't get no salad bar. I was never ran out of sugar the 1st day. I was that sugar didn't have no sugar for the next 3 days. Read the pamphlet, it says, you will never go hungry to help you with clothes. Don't do none of that

My name is frank A. I went through Turk House crisis center for three days then i went up stairs to the men's 30 day inpatient treatment center. I had a nice counselor their who suggested i try the Weisman House long term program and I knew going in to treatment that I had enough of the streets, I was excepted by Ms. Gwenn and I made it work for me. I was able to accomplish everything I planned to do. The staff and director was great working with clients were they were at in their process and what they hoped to achieve before leaving. I have to say thanks to Ron, A peer at the house, He would give us real talk about his experiences that most of the guy's their could relate to.

Man I ain't gon lie. I really didn't want to be here but my family so that I had so much trauma, depression and drugs so I came in to get detox. I experienced 28 days of positive direction about recovery. It led me to search my inner self. I left the 28 day program and came to to Howard House. These few months have kept me from the streets and kept drugs away from me. Helped me progress and get clean and my mind right.

5 star recovery from Detox to coming into the Nilsson House. One thing I like about this place is the groups and the other gentlemen I get to do recovery with. I also like the activities. Also the preparation to be a very good member of society once I live this house place

Places like these are why people come out of rehab and just go right back to using. I have many issues with this place, but the biggest was my roommate contracting COVID-19, and the staff was seriously unprofessional in handling this. The entire building should have been tested, but people were only tested if the had symptoms and an hour later we were sent to do group in the cafeteria which had over 30 people together in a confined space. They should have at least made masks mandatory, which they did, 2 whole days later.nnI came straight from the hospital, but no one told me that the Tuerk House doesnu2019t offer medications to people, you HAVE to bring them with you, so I spent my 7 days here withdrawing from my psych, sleep and blood pressure medication. I was told in day one that I would be starting a buprenorphine taper, but I was given a single dose on that day, and didnu2019t get another until 3 days later. Mind you that I wanted to build back up to my normal dose of 8mg twice a day, but I had to visit nursing every hour to ensure that it would happen. The nursing staff has a severe problem with communication, you can ask them for something and it could be an entire day without hearing back from someone. I didnu2019t have an issue with the peers, but I could see how some of the other reviewers did. For meals you get one serving of whatu2019s basically high school cafeteria food, one glass of juice, and a bag of whatever junk food they find around the office. I didnu2019t eat a single piece of fruit my whole time here, so nutrition is not something that they seem to care about. You would be lucky to even have the right utensils to eat with, some days they just have spoons and some days they just have forks. If you drink coffee you damn well better enjoy the single cup you get a day. My counselor only showed up once a week which was not nearly enough time for me to get what I needed to get done, and one of the guys who was with me said he hadnu2019t seen his counselor at all since he arrived 3 weeks earlier. Thereu2019s nothing to do in the way of recreation besides watching TV, as you will spend 99% of your time inside.nI write this as I left today, 8 days earlier than planned. I just couldnu2019t take it anymore. Please find somewhere else to go to and for the love of God if someone at a hospital recommends them then fight for your life to go somewhere else.
