You never want to be in a hospital or have one of your loved ones there, but when you need a hospital you can not find a better hospital than Allegheny General. The nursing staff has impressed us all, they have all been so professional and caring. If you need a break, take a walk to the North St entrance lobby and check out the detail and craftsmanship of the old lobby.

After being sick all day 5/27/2025, with no end in sight, and waking up with same symptoms this morning (5/28/2025), I decided a trip to the ER was in order. Good thing I did. The ER staff was alarmed at first because my heart rate was super high. So, to my surprise, I was immediately taken back to a room to have bloodwork drawn and an EKG done. No hesitation. Very attentive staff! :) Then they gave me fluids and something called Tigan - which took forever to kick in but finally worked. Every member of AGH's ER team that I saw all said I did the right thing by coming down. I was impressed and pleasantly surprised by the amount of care and attention I received. Not gonna lie, I was hesitant to come down due to past experiences with this same ER, but I am very glad I came. Can't say enough about Dr Julia Campbell, my nurse Ashley (such a sweetie), and all the other staff. So thank you to the staff for the excellent care.

I cannot say enough good things about this ER. I had been living in Pittsburgh for only 6 days when I had a medical emergency that left me in extreme pain. I received very fast and caring service, both doctors and nurses listened to my needs. During my appointment, it was revealed that I did not currently have a PCP and they arranged for a rep to call to help me find and schedule one. I already feel better about the care of my health and I havenu2019t even been in this city a week. Thank you!

We brought our Mom into the ER Wednesday night 3/19. We thought she had had a stroke. She had spent that entire day at Salem hospital in Ohio only for the doctor to ignore her until we eventually left because he didn't know what was going on with her. She got worse that night. Allegheny took her back to the ER right away where there were doctors waiting on her. Jacob and Ariana were her main nurses in the ER and we couldn't sing their praises enough. They calmed us down, got Mom assessed and provided wonderful care. She ended up having RSV and high ammonia levels which can mimic a stroke. They admitted her to the 6th floor at Allegheny where Gwen was her day nurse the entire time she was there through Saturday. Gwen was amazing. She was always there, answered all our questions and gave mom the best care she could have had. We just wanted to acknowledge the people who had a part in making sure our Mom got better. We could never tell them enough how appreciative we are of them.

Bedside manner is terrible here. Actually every aspect was terrible. From calling to locate where my father was, constantly hit with attitude from every worker, to being in recovery with him and listening to the nurses arguing with each other on why nobody took a chest or some kind of heart scan. Truly everyone is miserable there, when patients need better
